Inspired by all the fringe and streamer walls we’ve been seeing on Pinterest we decided to set out to create our own wall. What a challenge it was but the results and photos speak for themselves. The photo booth backdrop was the perfect setting for this llama fun kids party.
Allow a few weeks time to prep and work on your wall (or call contact us) to make your custom color and size.
There are many variations of making a fringe backdrop, streamer backdrop or tassel wall. Here’s our tips and insight; We used flagging tape in various colors but other options are tissue paper and plastic table cloths or dip dyed cloths. You can find flagging tape on Amazon or Home Depot. There are a variety of colors and prints. Order extra rolls as it takes a lot more than expected to fill your wall and make it appear full.
You can use a thin rope to knot the flagging tape to and create rows of various lengths then layer these rows or purchase a plastic grid used for gardening from Home Depot. We used the later version (very time consuming) but happy with the results and we can easily store and reuse this custom fringe backdrop.
We suggest limiting your colors to 5 and under. Adding pops of metallic mylar create an interesting pop of texture and color additon. Use a neutral color as your base and make sure to stock up on plenty of this colors. We chose white for our neutral fringe wall color. Adding in pops of neon pink, soft pink, purple and mint.
You will need to select 1-3 lengths to cut your tape allowing for enough length that the fringe will move and flow. We chose 6′ and 4′ lengths (you can always trim anything too long) Take a few days to cut your tape into the lengths you’ll need. Have an open space to start assembling your tape by folding the strips in half then looping around your string or fence. This should create a sort of slip knot style look. Reminds us of a tie. You will see that once you begin the fringe hangs and covers a portion below it. You can use the various lengths to give texture or once a section is done go back and trim to create various lenghts.
